De Saab Sonett is een bijzondere en zeldzame verschijning geworden. Deze schitterende tweepersoons sportwagen heeft een heel eigenzinnig ontwerp, wat voor een deel afkomstig is van de Italiaanse ontwerper Sergio Coggiola. Deze Sonett III werd in 1970 geïntroduceerd als opvolger van de Sonett II. De productie werd uiteindelijk in 1974 gestopt.

Deze schitterende Saab Sonett III is geproduceerd in 1972 en heeft daardoor nog de kleinere (en mooiere) bumpers en de auto is voorzien van de 1698 cc V4 motor (afkomstig van Ford). Oorspronkelijk is deze auto geleverd naar Californië (verschillende documenten en oorspronkelijke US Title zijn nog aanwezig!) en in 1997 is de auto naar Nederland gekomen. Bij aankomst had de auto nog zijn originele rode kleur. Tijdens de grondige en volledige restauratie is de auto vakkundig overgespoten in de schitterende kleur Monte Carlo Blu. Er is overigens een uitgebreid restauratie verslag aanwezig met foto’s. Tijdens deze restauratie is ook het motorblok volledig gereviseerd.

Deze Saab Sonett III is nog in uitzonderlijk mooie en schitterende conditie. Na de restauratie is de auto met heel veel zorg en liefde onderhouden. Dat is niet alleen zichtbaar in de sublieme staat waarin de auto zich bevindt, maar ook zeker te merken tijdens het rijden. De carrosserie is in zeer goede (bijna nieuw)staat, wat zeer bijzonder is voor een restauratie van ruim 20 jaar oud. De carrosseriedelen sluiten mooi op elkaar aan en de portieren openen en sluiten goed en degelijk. Ook de verschillende rubberdelen en afdichtingen zijn in zeer goede staat. De originele lichtmetalen velgen zijn tijdens de restauratie opnieuw gespoten en staan bijzonder mooi onder deze karakteristieke sportwagen.

Ook het interieur is nog in zeer goede conditie. Tijdens de restauratie is het interieur volledig opnieuw bekleed en de zwart lederen bekleding vormen een perfecte combinatie met de sportief blauwe carrosseriekleur. Het dashboard is nog in zeer goede staat en alle instrumenten werken naar behoren. De sportieve kuipstoelen zitten verrassend comfortabel. De diverse chroom- en sierdelen zijn ook in zeer goede staat.

Onder de motorkap zien we een zeer verzorgde motorruimte in uitzonderlijk nette conditie. En zoals het eruit ziet, zo klinkt de auto ook. De 1698 cc V4 motor loopt bijzonder soepel en rustig en heeft voldoende vermogen om de 830 kilo lichte Saab Sonett voort te bewegen. De auto stuurt soepel en direct en ook het schakelen gaat erg soepel. De remmen voelen stevig en degelijk aan. Deze prachtige Saab Sonett III is niet alleen prachtig om te zien, maar ook zeker erg bijzonder fijn om mee te rijden!

The Saab Sonett has become a special and rare appearance. This beautiful two-seater sports car has a very unique design, which is partly due to the Italian designer Sergio Coggiola. This Sonett III was introduced in 1970 as a successor to the Sonett II. Production was eventually stopped in 1974.

This beautiful Saab Sonett III was produced in 1972 and therefore still has the smaller (and more beautiful) bumpers and the car is equipped with the 1698 cc V4 engine (from Ford). This car was originally delivered to California (various documents and original US Title are still present!) and in 1997 the car came to the Netherlands. Upon arrival, the car still had its original red color. During the thorough and complete restoration, the car was expertly resprayed in the beautiful color Monte Carlo Blu. There is also an extensive restoration report with photos available. During this restoration, the engine block was also completely overhauled.

This Saab Sonett III is still in exceptionally beautiful and beautiful condition. After the restoration, the car has been maintained with great care and love. This is not only visible in the sublime condition of the car, but also certainly noticeable while driving. The bodywork is in very good (almost new) condition, which is very special for a restoration of over 20 years old. The body parts fit together nicely and the doors open and close well and solidly. The various rubber parts and seals are also in very good condition. The original alloy wheels were repainted during the restoration and look particularly nice under this characteristic sports car.

The interior is also still in very good condition. During the restoration, the interior was completely reupholstered and the black leather upholstery forms a perfect combination with the sporty blue body color. The dashboard is still in very good condition and all instruments work properly. The sporty bucket seats are surprisingly comfortable. The various chrome and trim parts are also in very good condition.

Under the hood we see a very well-maintained engine compartment in exceptionally neat condition. And as it looks, so does the car sound. The 1698 cc V4 engine runs exceptionally smooth and quiet and has sufficient power to move the 830 kilo light Saab Sonett. The car steers smoothly and directly and the shifting is also very smooth. The brakes feel firm and solid. This beautiful Saab Sonett III is not only beautiful to look at, but also very nice to drive!
